Panos Yiapanis. What words can I possibly insert here that would do justice to how much I honor and respect this man? Well for one thing, he’s the reason I joined facebook. Yeah. I know. I’m a total weirdo. But I can explain! It was the Summer of 2008. I was in New York, at a kiosk. Suddenly, a bright white and primary coloured magazine cover caught my eye. It was Arena Homme. I observed. What happened next, readers can only be described as FUCKING EPIC. It was an epiphany. A total trannybitchslapinthefaceandpullmyweave ‘fashion moment.’ What the fuck! Before then, I had never really seen styling that I could completely and utterly resonate with. It was as if every colour and every texture knew me like an old friend, and they were calling to me saying “Allo, Caitlin! There you are! Don’t you wish you would’ve worked on this shoot with us? We’ve missed youuuuu!” This was it. I had to know this man. So I did what any normal stalker, -desperate to grasp ahold of some part of the genius she had just witnessed- would do, and googled him. And I found him on facebook. I was not on facebook at the time, I think I was doing the whole ‘I’m far too cool and down to earth for facebook’ thing back then. But I would decidedly swallow any ounce of pride for my new lord and saviour. A few months later, I would actually get a completely random phone call, offering me the opportunity to assist for THE Panos Yiapanis and Hedi Slimane. But due to some RATHER unfortunate circumstances, this did not happen for me. That’s a whole other story. And for the record… He never accepted my friend request.
