SALEM

I REALLY like Salem. Salem consists of these three kids, who came together and somehow created this strange, and lovely musical creature that no one really knows what to do with. New genres have been created expressly so that people can better describe their sound. (“Screwgaze” and “Haunted House” are among my favourites) But beyond all of the new genres and crazy hype these guys have been receiving, I mostly admire this band for their honesty and rawness. Salem is a perfect example of genuine, unpretentious genius that inadvertently became cool and…. well, kind of pretentious-- but only because it’s undeniably good, and there’s love and SOUL behind it. I highly recommend that one read up on their history, because I think it’s quite interesting. And THEN listen to their music, and then RECOGNIZE and APPRECIATE. Werd. Check out their debut album King Night, and also the water ep and the yes I smoke crack ep. It’s all so so good.
