Lung Leg

Darling of the transgressive film movement in the 1980’s, Lung Leg (a.k.a Elizabeth Carr, a.k.a Lisa Carr) has appeared in some of the coolest underground movies ever.  She was the star of many a Richard Kern flick, including You Killed Me First (Kern’s longest film), as well as Fingered and Worm Movie.  She’s been in various music videos for various awesome bands, and has been romantically linked to Blixa Bargeld of Einstürzende Neubauten, and Nick Cave.

After the 80’s Lung Leg sort of fell off the face of the earth, but made a come back in 2005 with the film Sewer Baby, a heartwarming piece, featuring Tiny Tim, a bunch of monsters, and a primordial dwarf.  She came up with the name Lung Leg by putting  -“Lung” which is a part of the German word for acting, and “Leg” which allows the physical Lung to move -together.  Ms. Leg is perhaps best known for bringing her own particular brand of rage and angst to the screen.  Her troubled teenage sneer can haunt you for days.  Even Richard Kern describes her as “scary.”

Lung Leg still remains very much under the radar to this day, and not a lot of people recognize her as anything more than the girl from Sonic Youth’s 'EVOL' album cover, but she’s done so much more.  I think it’s time for a resurrection.

OH.  And speaking of Sonic Youth...
