R.I.P Ari Up

Ariana Forster aka: Ari Up was the front woman and leader of female powered punk rock outfit, The Slits- perhaps one of the most influential and pioneering female bands of its time. Ari Up passed away Wednesday, 20 October, 2010. Due to (according to John Lydon-aka Johnny Rotten aka Ari’s stepdad) “a serious illness.” No word yet on what this illness is. Ari was 48 years old. Here’s something else you should know about Ari Up. This woman paved roads. She was incredibly fearless, and embodied what it means to be a strong, positive, vibrant, and creative female – completely unapologetic, and comfortable in her own skin. Ari was punk as fuck, and I am deeply saddened by her death. Rest In Peace.
