ARE THE MISSONI’S GENIUSES? They must be, since they hired famed filmmaker Kenneth Anger to release a new ad campaign for their Fall/Winter 2010 collection. The ad features various members of the Missoni family, all psychedelically layered, and looking fabulous in the brand’s designs. The result is the perfect marriage between fashion, and one of my favourite visual artists.
For those of you who are not familiar with Anger’s work… y’all need to recognize! Kenneth Anger is responsible for some of the most groundbreaking and inspiring short films the world has ever seen, and he’s one of the most influential underground filmmakers in history. Without the works of Kenneth Anger, directors like David Lynch, and John Waters would probably be high school janitors. Music videos would not exist. The universe would collapse! … Well, it would be a lot duller, anyway.
Anger’s work usually exhibits hypnotic and surrealist imagery, as well as healthy doses of occult and homoeroticism. He is responsible for such films as ‘Scorpio Rising,’ ‘Rabbit’s Moon,’ ‘Lucifer Rising,’ ‘Fireworks,’ and ‘The Invocation of My Demon Brother.’ I highly, highly recommend you check these out, and worship this man.
